gotdamn jack jones — Artist bio

Gotdamn Jack Jones is a Houston-born singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music lives at the intersection of Southern Soul, R&B, Blues-Rock, Country-Soul, and raw Funk.

Gotdamn Jack Jones

A lifelong Houstonian, Jones grew up on the city's Southside in a family where music was a constant source of connection and inspiration. His mother introduced him to Country Western and Blues, while his siblings exposed him to everything from Prince and 80s Pop to Soul, Funk, and R&B. Those diverse influences became the foundation for an artist who refuses to be confined to a single genre.

Jones discovered his musical gift at an early age. As a child, he was selected for the Challenger Space Shuttle Children's Choir and began developing his voice through church, songwriting, and performance. Over the years, he worked behind the scenes as a songwriter and producer while continuing to develop his own sound and identity as an artist.

In 2020, Jones released his debut EP, Left Handed In My Right Mind, a deeply personal project that blended soul, rock, funk, and blues while exploring themes of fear, vulnerability, accountability, and personal growth. The project marked an important step in bringing his own voice and story into the forefront.

SHEPHERD

Today, Gotdamn Jack Jones is stepping fully into his identity as an artist. His music is rooted in authenticity, storytelling, and the timeless sounds that shaped him—from D'Angelo, Al Green, Donny Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder to Prince and the rich musical traditions of Houston.

His upcoming project, SHEPHERD, represents the next chapter of that journey. Recorded with a raw, soulful approach, the project brings together Southern Soul, R&B, Blues-Rock, Country-Soul, and Funk while pushing Jones' genre-bending sound forward.

More than anything, Jones is interested in making timeless music— music that tells a story, connects with people, and creates the freedom to be fully himself.
